SkullCandy Venue, Worth $160?
SkullCandy has made some good headphones in the past with budgets in mind. The SkullCandy Venue is a good set up headphones that have a great sound quality and a sleek appearance. They go for around 160 dollars but it is constantly on discount. I got my personal Venue’s cost me 80 dollars. I personally don’t think they are worth it for the full 160 dollars but if you find them for under 100 dollars then they are a good value. First I am going to write about the features and sound quality after that I am going to talk about my personal experience with them.
The looks of the venue are very simple even more in this black color. The materials are mostly plastic with some leather at the top and in the ear area. On the right, there is the volume and the connectors. Unfortunately, it uses micro-USB to charge. On the left, you have the power button with 4 lights that tell how much battery is remaining. Apart from that, there is an active noise canceling button. It has a built-in mic which is not the best but it will get the job done.
The packaging is really high quality. It comes with a case that you can use to take your headphones anywhere. Inside the case, it includes the Venue’s themselves, a micro-USB cable, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
My experience with the SkullCandy Venues is mixed. The sound quality is really good but when having them on for a long time the earmuffs are really uncomfortable and the top strap feels really heavy. Also, the only quality problem I have had is that the left ear leather is peeling off and it is really surprising because they are not even 6 months old and they have a price tag of 160 dollars. Apart from that, the box did not include a plug to connect to the wall it just came with a micro-USB cable which is really strange.
To end things the SkullCandy Venues are a great headphone only if you find them at the 80–100 dollar range because at the 160 dollar mark they have a small quality issue that for that price tag is unforgivable at just almost 6 months of use. Apart from that small quality issue, the headphones are really good. The sound quality is great and if these headphones had been a little bit more comfortable they would’ve been perfect. If you can get over the small quality mistake then I recommend them if you find them in the price range of 80–100 dollars but if not then there are better headphones out there in the market.
